YI-HSIEN LIAO
Flutist Yi-Hsien Liao is a versatile performer in many music genres, but she is known for her contemporary musical interpretation.
At age of 14, she was accepted to the Idyllwild Arts Academy in South California with scholarship, she studied with recording artist Ms.Sara Andon, then she attended Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany, studied under Hungarian virtuosos, Prof.Jànos Bàlint. During her study in Germany, she won the 3rd price in Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Poland. She pursuit advanced study in the field of contemporary music and interpretation with worldwide leading flutist Prof.Mario Caroli (flutist of Ensemble Recherche) in Strasbourg. In 2017, she completed Konzertexamen degree from Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany.
As an orchestra musician, in 2012, and 2014 she was selected to the Luzerne Festival Academy Orchestra in Switzerland, she has worked with flutist Ms. Emmanulle Ophèle, Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Matthias Pintscher; in addition, she was also featured as soloist to perform Peter Eötvös' Flute and Clarinet Double Concerto "Shadows" with conductor Peter Eötvös himself in KKL Concert Hall in Luzern.
She performs as soloist in various musical events internationally, including ISCM Taiwan, Acanthes Festival in France, Burapha University in Thailand, Warsaw Chopin University of Music in Poland, Chogqing University in China. She has passion in the field of contemporary music; she plays music with vibrant personality, and looks for repertoire that challenge musical limit. In 2018, she has received a grant from National Culture and Arts Foundation, for a projet called “Good Night, Music for Congratulatory card”, to perform a piece from Pavel Karmanov for flute and 5 percussionist, and shorter pieces from Robert di Marino and Takashi Yoshimatsu for Guitar and Flute. In 2020, she has performed “For Philip Guston” from Morton Feldman.
As a chamber musician, she works with WWY Ensemble Academy, a platform where players explore contemporary ensemble pieces with composers and conductor at Weiwuying center for the arts. Liao is also a member flutist of Joueurs de flûte ensemble based in Taipei. Joueurs de flûte consists the most influential flutists throughout Taiwan and has invitations to perform nationally and internationally.

學歷/教育背景:
1995年 考取西門國小音樂班,長笛師事杜美青老師,林文棻老師和林怡君老師
1999年 考取建華國中音樂班與石雅如教授學習, 隔年吹演Jacques Ibert Flute Concerto榮獲台灣(青少年A組)長笛新竹市賽第一名,同 年亦榮獲君石長笛大賽第三名
2000年 通過甄選並給與高額獎學金赴美國南加州Idyllwild Arts Academy與Sara Andon老師並有機會與其藝術學校音樂主任,耶魯大 學教授,世界著名長笛大師Ransom
Wilson學習與請教演奏法, 樂團吹奏, 短笛吹奏.
2002年 獲Young Musician Foundation美國知名年輕音樂家基金會肯定:
獲邀莫札特古典音樂廣播電台與管樂五重奏合作演出.
2003年 參加布達佩斯國際長笛大賽入圍第二輪
2003年 考取The Juilliard School紐約茱莉亞音樂學院預校並給與高額獎學金

2004年 十月起於德國Hochschule für Musik Detmold德特蒙國立高等音樂學院 跟隨匈牙利長笛大師Janos Balint 學習.
2004年 通過波蘭Krakow克拉寇國際長笛大賽甄選, 取得2005年入複賽資格
2006年 與Detmold Hochschule 樂團合作演出歌劇 ”卡門” 擔任短笛獨奏
2007年 與Detmold Hochschule 樂團與知名指揮 羅傑·諾林頓 爵士（Sir. Roger Norrington）
演出布拉姆斯《第一號交響曲》
2008年 參予德國梅湘祭與指揮兼國際知名打擊大師 彼得·浦洛默Prof. Peter Prommel,
與德國國立德特蒙高等音樂院之樂團擔任短笛獨奏合作演 出O.Messiean的《峽谷至群星》（Des canyons auxétoiles）
大獲好評而後也在德國Paderborn之Dom再次演出.
2009年 九月榮獲波蘭第三屆麥克.史披薩克（Michał Spisak）國際音樂大賽第三名.
2010年 一月以特優1,1分(Sehr Gut)獲得藝術家演奏碩士文憑
2010年 十月考取法國史特拉斯堡高等音樂學院（Conservatoire National de Strasbourg ）

與義大利籍當紅長笛演奏家瑪利歐·卡洛利（Mario Caroli）學習當代長笛演奏技巧與詮釋
2011年 七月獲法國梅茲Acanthes Center 國際當代音樂節獎學金,
並受邀與知名當代作曲家 飛利浦·於略爾（Philippe Hurel）、陳銀淑（Unsuk Chin）、
奧斯卡·史特拉斯諾（Oscar Strasnoy）研習與演出
2012年 六月於法國史特拉斯堡高等音樂院畢業,
獲評省一致通過與祝賀獎(mention très bien avec les félicitations du jury)之當代音樂演奏詮釋之文憑

與知名作曲家, 指揮, 布列茲(Pierre Boulez)與 烏特夫斯(Peter Eötvös)和卡薩多Pablo Heras-Casado
當代音樂樂團Ensemble Intercontemporain 指導合作演出外,
廖薏賢亦獲選擔任長笛獨奏,由烏特夫斯本人親自指揮, 演出烏特夫斯(Peter Eötvös)的長笛與豎笛的雙協奏曲”影子”
2013年 十月獲邀於臺北當代國際音樂節, 與知名鋼琴家陳必先, 小提琴家陳必昭, 大提琴家劉彥廷共同合作演出
十月獲邀演出於交通大學藝術季
2014年 二月獲邀演出於波蘭蕭邦音樂大學
八月獲邀Luzerne Festival Academy瑞士琉森音樂節, 與指揮家 賽門拉圖Sir Simon Rattle, 作曲家 Heinz Holliger 研習與演出
2015年 一月考取德國德特蒙高等音樂學院最高演奏家文憑
二月獲邀於泰國東方大學舉辦大師班, 音樂文化交流與演出
五月獲邀於第四屆台灣長笛藝術節演出：台灣首演當代音樂波蘭作曲家馬爾辛·布瓦熱維奇（Marcin Błażewicz） 的 塔納托斯
《Thanatos》, 與 阿根廷作曲家 馬切洛·托雷多（Marcelo Toledo） 的 《Ａliento / Arrugas》
2017年 二月德國岱特蒙國立高等音樂院1,2分特優畢業, 獲長笛演奏家博士文憑

2021 9月開始 於新北市光仁高級中學擔任長笛教師
2022/2023 2月清華大學 管樂社 寒訓 分部長笛老師
2022年 於德布西音樂藝術中心台灣首演當代作品：川島素晴《Manic Psychossi I》、多久潤一郎 《虹》
2024年 與台北吹笛人室內樂共同錄製《吹笛人·逍遙遊》入圍多項傳藝金曲獎，並拿下「最佳演奏獎」
2025年 參與吹笛人台灣國際長笛音樂營師資，於臺北教育大學舉辦當代長笛專題講座
留學期間常赴歐洲數國,美國,英國參加過 Emily Beynon, Janos Balint, William Bennett, Linda Chesis, Mario Caroli, Richard Mueller Dombois, Davide Formisano, Paul Fried, Bradley Garner, Bodogy Georgy, Anna-Katharina Graf, James Galway, Jeffrey Kahner, Emmanulle Ophele, Tara O’connor , 小提琴家Anne Shih, Jim Walker, Jacques Zoon 等多位國際知名長笛大師大師班和個別指導.
